Harbringer

It’s Year 35 in the New World, Bastunia.

Argus—young, wild, and full of discovery—with his steel-shelled turtle-totem, Rastin, wants nothing more than to dance, pick flowers, play music, and uncover the fascinations of their coastal village.

But the love of his life wants more.

She seeks to join the Sophistra. She’ll face a number of ranging trials to prove she belongs amongst the villagers of highest esteem. Argus intends to follow her, to try his own hand at belonging, and preserve any chance the two of them have at ending up together…

But things are not what they seem. Something serious troubles the women at the helm of the Sophistra—the Originators. Something they are taking great measures to keep hidden.

5/5

Argus is such an interesting character and I loved how all the characters really felt like their own people. It's so easy to have favorites and the story itself is captivating. I loved this book! Highly recommend.

Reviews

I absolutely love Harbinger and everything else Matthew has written. This book is a true page-turner—once I started, I couldn’t put it down!

The world-building is rich, the characters are compelling, and the story moves at just the right pace. I’m already counting down the days until part two. Highly recommend for any fantasy lover!

What a world! This book is so vivid and immersive. The environment itself is stunning. I just want to keep spending more time here!

I loved the education element to this. The way the Originators hold the trials is unique and interesting, but still has so much of what we love in a fantasy learning plot.
